Kiwoom pounded out 20 hits in the ninth game of the season against the LG Twins at the Gocheok Sky Dome on Aug. 8, winning 13-0 and demolishing the LG mound.
The game between the two teams, which had been a four-hour, 27-minute bloodbath the day before, ultimately came down to a starting battle. Kiwoom starter Choi Won-tae pitched seven shutout innings, allowing just five hits and two walks. He only needed 94 pitches. On the other hand, LG starter Kim Yoon-sik gave up seven runs on 12 hits in five innings of work.
For Kiwoom, who had been struggling with batting silence, the outburst was a welcome respite from the drought.
